Window Treatments for Large Windows

Sliding glass doors are usually the largest openings we cover. Naturally treatments that move from side to side are the preferred options to move with the doors.

Many homes also have very large windows as well. Big picture windows in the living room or dining room are common and many master bedrooms also have large triple windows typically 108 inches wide by around 62 inches high. The vast sizes of these openings can create some problems, mainly the weight of the treatment that has to be lifted. There's just a lot of shade or blind there and depending on the treatment it can be heavy. What good is a treatment if you can't use the thing?

Sunscreen roller shades are an excellent choice on most windows in the home except for privacy rooms. The roller shade is a relativley light treatment but at those sizes can still be quite heavy to raise. The Galaxy clutch by RollEase is an excellent option to lighten the load. The Galaxy clutch has a spring built into the clutch that coils when the shade is lowered, so when it's time to raise the shade the energy stored in the spring helps raise the shade considerably. I think the Galaxy clutch takes 20-30% off the lifting force of the shade which makes a huge difference. They're so effective that the roller shade is the number one option for an up and down shade on a sliding glass door strictly because of the Galaxy clutch and naturally they work great on large windows.

The Honeycomb Cellular shade, the Comfortex Overtone double roller shade, and the Hunter Douglas Silhouette sheer shade are all viable options as well because they're lighter than many of the other options. These folks are great! I needed to replace a large motorized blind. I called two other companies before finding AAA Blind Factory of Bonita Springs. The other companies didn't return calls, were late for appointments, and didn't offer good solutions. I'm so glad I decided to try a third time and called AAA. They booked an appointment the next day to take a look at my blind. Rick arrived exactly on time (literally to the minute). He was clearly familiar with the brand of the existing shade and gave me a reasonable proposal on the spot. Then the next day he called back to say he had talked with the manufacturer and that they could replace just the fabric and keep the existing motor, which saved me a ton of money. Gary (the scheduler) got us on the calendar right away. And Jim (the installer) was great -- he showed up right on time, worked fast, was really careful, and even showed us features we didn't know existed (the original installer hadn't programmed them into the controls). I really can't say enough good things about these guys. From sales to scheduling to service they made the whole process really easy, they offered the best solutions, and they still had the best price (in part because they know their products well enough to offer better solutions). Great experience. Will recommend these folks in a heartbeat to neighbors.

I ordered 6 electric blinds. They are beautiful and I am completely satisfied with the installation. It took a couple of trips to get one particular blind correct, but AAA got it done and they did not ask for the balance until the job was complete. Very nice people to work with. I will use them again when I'm ready for plantation shutters

We purchased a blind at AAA Blind Store. My husband decided to install it himself. Probably not the best choice. Once he mounted it properly the wand mechanism wouldn’t raise the shade. I brought it back and they said they would repair it. The next day they called, said they would reinstall it and make sure the wand worked correctly. We had dreaded reinstalling it yet again. They came adjusted the mounting and explained why we had trouble. WONDERFUL SERVICE.
