The honeycomb shade or cellular shade became wildly popular because of the energy efficiency it provided in both a light filtering and especially blackout styles. For the first time you could really contain outside temperatures without having to go to heavy duty fabrics. A light filtering honeycomb allows a lot of light but with an unmatched level of energy efficiency.
The blackout honeycomb is still the #1 go to bedroom shade because of its excellent blackout fabric, its miniscule gap from the edge of the window, its cordless option, and its superior top down bottom up ability, which is also very useful in bedroom blackout shades.
