How
to Measure
Outside Mount or Wall Mount
Outside mounts hang outside the window opening either on the wood frame itself
or above and beyond the wood frame to make a window appear wider and longer or
to hide an unattractive window.
If you want to mount your window treatments directly to the window frame, then
measure the exact width and height of the wood frame itself from outer edge to
outer edge.
To go above and beyond the wood frame, to ensure minimum light gap and maximum
privacy, add the following to
each side of the window as long as you have enough room.
Minis, pleated & woods 1-1/2" - 3"
Verticals 3" - 4"
Then add the following to the height to allow for mounting brackets above the
opening.
Minis, pleated & woods 2"
Verticals 2-1/2"
For minis and wood blinds, tilter wand and lift cord can be placed on either
side. Pleated
shade lift cords can be placed on either side. Vertical blinds can draw from
left to right, right to left or split in the center.
Inside or Recessed Mount
Inside mounts hang inside the window frame and provide a flush look. For an inside
mount the window must be recessed 1" - 2-1/2" for minis, pleated and woods and
2-3/4" - 3-1/2" for vertical blinds.
Measure
exact width of the window in 3 places. Use the smallest width measurement. The
factory will make the necessary allowances for the brackets. Measure the exact
height of the window in 3 places and use the shortest height.
Use metal tape for accuracy. Please do not use measurements smaller than eighths
